Position Overview
The Machine Shop Manger will supervise and coordinate all activities of our machine shop, from strategic planning to daily operations with a focus on safety, quality, productivity, and optimization. You will lead a team of machinists and operators to execute a large and diverse scope of aerospace components for follow-on assembly within our manufacturing team. We are looking for someone with deep experience in machining, a constant desire to improve, and a sincere passion for leading a team.
What You’ll Do
- Oversee all aspects of a multi axis CNC machine shop
- Manage, mentor, and develop a team of machinists across multiple shifts
- Coordinate workflow, job scheduling, machine scheduling, and ensure on-time delivery of aerospace components
- Implement best practices to reduce cycle time, minimize setup, reduce scrap, improve quality and accelerate throughput
- Ensure compliance with AS9100, NADCAP, and customer-specific requirements.
- Direct the development of efficient programing, fixture designs, tool selection and commonization
- Work closely with engineering, quality, scheduling, and production teams to meet delivery goals
- Analyze KPIs, production metrics, capacity planning, and RCAs to drive performance and accountability
- Manage, train, and evaluate staff performance, and take corrective action when necessary
- As a member of the leadership team, collaborate cross-functionally to solve challenges and execute the company’s strategic vision
- Ensure compliance with regulations and safety standards within the machine shop
Who You Are
10+ years’ experience in precision machining, with at least 3 years in a leadership role, preferably in the aerospace or defense industryProficiency in CNC programmingDeep understanding of high-efficiency machining strategiesFamiliarity with 3-, 4-, and 5-axis machining centersKnowledge of AS9100 and NADCAP standardsAssociate or bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)Experience with ERP / MRP systems and digital shop floor toolsStrong leadership, interpersonal, and team building skillsExcellent communication and problem-solving abilitiesAbility to thrive in a fast-paced, high-precision environmentChampion for continuous improvement and optimizationWhat’s In It for You
