The Department of Counseling and Educational Psychology invites applications for a 9-month , Tenure-Track position of Counselor Education at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor to begin as early as Fall 2026 . Faculty rank and tenure status will be determined upon review of qualifications. We are especially interested in candidates with dedication to and success in working in various communities. The department aims to build a multifaceted faculty committed to teaching and working with a student body of varying backgrounds. The department offers the following CACREP-accredited programs : master’s in clinical mental health counseling, marriage, couple, and family counseling, school counseling, and addictions counseling, as well as a doctoral program in Counselor Education. In addition, the department recently launched an online master’s program with a focus on Hispanic Mental Health. In 2020, the department was named the SACES Outstanding Master’s Level Program.

Assistant Professor Rank : An earned Doctoral degree in Counselor Education. Advanced ABD will be considered; the degree must be conferred at the time of appointment .
Associate Professor Rank : An earned Doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Five (5) years of full-time university faculty experience, including at least four (4) years in the rank of Assistant Professor. Related professional experience may substitute in rare cases.
Expertise in one of the specialty areas offered in the department,
Experience teaching, supervising, and advising counseling students,
Evidence of a promising counseling research agenda as demonstrated by publication and presentation activity.
Preferred Qualifications
Doctorate from a CACREP-accredited program,
LPC / LPC-eligible at time of employment,
Paid work experience as a professional counselor,
An established record of peer-reviewed scholarly publications and presentations,
Demonstrated multifaceted and social justice worldview as evidenced by a professional interest in, and experience working with / advocating for underserved populations,
Membership and active involvement in professional counseling organizations,
Graduate teaching experience in a counselor training program,
Experience serving on doctoral dissertation committees (as chair or member), and
Bilingual in English / Spanish.
Active participation and leadership in professional organizations at local, state, national, and international levels.
