The purpose of a Database Administrator (DBA) is to manage and maintain a SQL Server database environment with sensitivity to its availability, security, and performance. The primary objective of this position is to ensure that the database environment meets the company's business requirements. Additionally, to help the company remain compliant, this position must follow certain rules and regulations to protect the security and integrity of the company's data. This position must also maintain and expand the SQL Server Estate - an enterprise of applications and business management tools - and support multiple development teams across the organization. At times, this position may be called upon to assist with other data related services and initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience administering Microsoft SQL Server required.
  • Demonstrated experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO); using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools required.
  • Demonstrated Experience with backups, restores, and recovery models required.
  • Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server required.
  • Microsoft SQL Clustering and Replication experience is required.
  • MCTS, MCITP, and / or MVP certification is preferred.
  • Source Control, Development Environments, and other SQL Server related technologies - SSIS, SSRS, SSAS - experience preferred.
  • Windows server experience, including Active Directory, preferred.
  • Familiarity of server and SQL platform monitoring tool is preferred.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities :

  • Responsible for installing and configuring SQL Server software and ensuring that it meets the business requirements.
  • Responsible for designing, creating, and implementing databases that meet the business requirements. This includes creating tables, views, stored procedures, and triggers.
  • Responsible for ensuring that regular backups of the databases are taken and that procedures are in place to recover data in the event of a disaster.
  • Responsible for implementing security measures to protect the database from unauthorized access, such as setting up user accounts and permissions and monitoring database access logs.
  • Monitor database performance and optimize the database for maximum performance.
  • Responsible for performing routine maintenance tasks such as database defragmentation, rebuilding indexes, and updating statistics.
  • Responsible for identifying and resolving database-related issues such as data corruption, performance, and connectivity issues.
  • Responsible for estimating the growth of the database and planning for future storage requirements.
  • Create and maintain documentation of database systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Work closely with developers, system administrators, and other IT staff to ensure that database systems are integrated with other systems and meet business requirements.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of compliance requirements affecting your position and area of responsibilities.

  • Physical Requirements :

  • While performing the duties of this position, the associate is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The associate frequently is required to stand or walk. The associate is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The associate must occasionally lift and / or move 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, and distance vision. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Other Requirements :

  • On-Call Support (rotating) : The DBA will be expected to participate in 24x7 on-call rotation to support critical production systems.
  • Travel between Republic Banking facilities may be required including occasional out of town travel.
  • Flexible work schedule may include some evenings, weekends and / or overtime.
  • Stay abreast of new developments, best practices, and statutory and regulatory changes.
