Avocados From Mexico is actively looking for an experienced public relations manager that is well-versed in leveraging media coverage and storytelling as a marketing tool to help lead our company’s corporate and brand communications efforts. This individual will be responsible for leading project management for PR communications initiatives ranging from in-culture consumer activations to corporate sustainability and executive visibility; as well as messaging development, collaboration with cross-department teams, agency management, trend pitching, and communications planning. This role reports to the Senior Director of Corporate Communications and PR; and works closely with the internal teams (brand and digital marketing, shopper and trade, and foodservice); and acts as the primary point of contact for the PR agency.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement overarching PR strategy for the company and serve as the primary point of contact for both internal and external partners.
Develop public relations strategies and manage the execution of brand, corporate and crisis communications from beginning to end.
Develop and implement publicity strategies for company events and announcements.
Lead project management for execution of plans, including overseeing budgets and timelines
Ongoing story mining to secure timely media opportunities in partnership with PR agency
Provide counsel to leadership for interviews and speaking engagements
Compose accurate, well-written press and communication materials for company announcements
Compile, monitor and analyze PR performance and provide detailed reporting demonstrating progress toward goals
Serve as communications subject matter expert for cross-functional campaigns, coordinating between different departments within the organization
Manage brand and executive LinkedIn strategy, in partnership with agency and internal stakeholders
Provide counsel on new media formats including influencer and editorial integration
Support celebrity talent vetting and integration
Manage PR-led partnerships, ensuring message pull through and omnichannel integration when applicable
Skills / Qualifications
History of collaboration with cross-functional teams and agency partners with the ability to transform complex concepts into accessible consumer messages
Proactive team player with a demonstrated ability to develop and cultivate relationships, support cross-functional objectives and balance / blend various needs and views into an effective PR strategy / plan
Results-driven strategic thinker with a strong media relations and crisis communications background
Experience managing complex, integrated consumer PR campaigns
Experience managing multiple agencies
Able to quickly compose and edit a variety of creative and business-oriented texts that meet company standards on deadline
A modern communicator with interest and experience in leveraging integrated campaigns.
Creative thinker that can develop ideas that will generate traditional earned media coverage.
Assertive self-starter who can work independently, able to effectively handle multiple tasks / projects
simultaneously and problem-solve on the fly
Consistent “can-do” attitude with the ability to adapt and deliver under pressure
Expertise in influencer marketing and social media a plus
Excellent presenter with strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communications skills
Well-organized with superior attention to detail
Education / Experience Requirements
Bachelor's Degree required and in related field preferred (Communications / PR, Marketing, Journalism, etc.).
7+ years of experience in public relations, corporate communications, or consumer brand marketing
PR agency exposure and management from the client side
Strong project management, budget management, time management and organization skills with the ability to
meet deadlines
In-depth knowledge of industry best practices
Passion for executing with excellence, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Track record of producing press releases and other communications materials and creating marketing and
content strategies with successful implementation
Bilingual (English / Spanish) REQUIRED
Potential travel estimated at 20%
