The Nurse Scholar will independently and collaboratively promote nursing inquiry through professional, evidence-based nursing practice and innovation.

This is accomplished by several methods :

consultation / collaboration with nursing staff to promote a spirit of inquiry.

educate / coach nursing staff regarding quality improvements,

nursing research and evidence-based practice projects (EBP);

mentor nursing staff to develop clinical questions into PICO (P= Patient / Problem, I = Intervention, C = Comparison and O = Outcome) questions for clarification of the clinical issue;

design, conduct and disseminate knowledge of nursing research or EBP to improve nursing practice and patient outcomes;

promote publication / presentations of research or EBP to disseminate information to both internal and external audiences;

investigates and applies for grants as appropriate to fund nursing research;

serves as a resource to nurses at all levels in developing projects or research studies and dissemination of findings;

advises Nursing leaders on opportunities for research participation at the local and national level;

and functions as an expert resource and consultant on research, EBP and nursing inquiry.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :

Master's degree in nursing (MSN) and Doctorate in related field.

Previous experience as Nurse Researcher, preferred.

Publications (at least 2)

CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSURES REQUIRED :

• Current State of Michigan RN License.
