Survey Instrument Operator

What We're Looking For :

At Barge Design Solutions , we believe in growing the next generation of surveying professionals. This position provides a hands-on opportunity to learn and apply foundational surveying techniques while supporting both field and office staff. Under the guidance of experienced surveyors, you will gain exposure to equipment operation, traffic control, data collection, and processing. This role is designed for individuals eager to develop their skills, contribute to impactful projects, and build a long-term career in surveying with a multidisciplinary AEC firm.

Responsibilities :

• Set up, adjust, operate, and inspect surveying equipment including total station, data collector to measure distances, elevations, angles, and other data in order to collect survey data
• Process data from manual or electronic field books
• Perform basic field calculations of horizontal and vertical geometry of roadways under supervision
• Retrace or survey boundary lines under supervision
• Perform calculations for construction stakeout for review
• Assist in researching existing record information, including record maps, plans, deeds, easements, and right-of-way documents, and maintain field data records
• Perform other duties as required

Education & Experience Qualifications :

Daily work environment includes working outdoors and in rough terrain. Individuals will walk, sit, and stand while operating various equipment, tools, and machinery. Individuals may need to carry, push, pull, or lift up to 50 lbs. Individuals may need to climb to various elevations and requires visual acuity sufficient to read alpha / numeric symbols and perform computation and design.
