1. Requirements Gathering & Analysis

  • Meet with stakeholders to understand business goals, processes, and challenges.
  • Elicit, document, and prioritize requirements for Salesforce solutions.
  • Use techniques such as workshops, interviews, surveys, and process mapping.
  • Translate high-level business needs into detailed functional and technical specifications.

2. Business Process Mapping & Improvement

  • Analyze existing workflows and identify opportunities for automation or optimization within Salesforce.
  • Create process flows, user stories, and acceptance criteria in tools like Jira, Confluence, or Aha.
  • Ensure Salesforce features (standard or custom) align with best practices and business objectives.
  • 3. Salesforce Solution Design Support

  • Collaborate with Salesforce Architects, Admins, and Developers to design scalable solutions.
  • Recommend whether to use standard Salesforce functionality or custom development.
  • Validate that proposed solutions meet both functional and non-functional requirements.
  • 4. Data & Integration Management

  • Define data migration needs (source, mapping, cleansing, validation).
  • Support integration requirements between Salesforce and other business systems (ERP, marketing automation, service platforms).
  • Help maintain data integrity and governance rules.
  • 5. User Story Creation & Backlog Management

  • Write clear and testable user stories with well-defined acceptance criteria.
  • Maintain the product backlog and prioritize based on business value.
  • Support Agile ceremonies (stand-ups, backlog grooming, sprint planning).
  • 6. Testing & Quality Assurance

  • Develop test cases and assist in UAT (User Acceptance Testing) .
  • Ensure delivered features meet business requirements before deployment.
  • Log, track, and help resolve defects.
  • 7. Change Management & Training

  • Support change management by creating training materials and documentation.
  • Conduct user training sessions and onboarding for new Salesforce functionality.
  • Gather feedback after go-live to address adoption challenges.
  • 8. Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor Salesforce usage and adoption metrics to identify gaps.
  • Recommend enhancements or new features to improve ROI.
  • Stay up-to-date with Salesforce releases and suggest relevant updates.
  • Key Skills for a Salesforce BA

  • Salesforce platform knowledge — Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, Marketing Cloud, etc.
  • Strong understanding of CRM concepts and customer lifecycle.

  • Proficiency in business process modeling .
  • Familiarity with Agile / Scrum and tools like Jira, Azure
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
