POSITION DESCRIPTION :

The Quality Control Technician will report directly to the Quality Control Manager and will conduct quality control activities throughout the plant including inspection, grading and sorting of incoming material, performance of plant audits, assuring product conformance with customer specifications, measurement of cast, extruded, rolled and / or machined products and investigation of defective products. Must be able to read and interpret customer and government specifications, ISO 9001 quality standards, drawings, and written procedures and work instructions. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is a must. Must have excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, REQUIRED SKILLS :

Minimum two (2) years experience in the lead or other metal industry

Minimum two (2) years experience programming / operating a portable measuring arm, preferably utilizing PolyWorks. Other CMM experience may be considered.

Forklift training and certification preferred

Crane operation certification preferred

Good math and measurement skills

Good computer skills, Microsoft Office

Independent & self motivated is a must

Good problem solving skills

Good communication skills

Ability to read and interpret government and industry specifications

Ability to read, interpret and measure machined parts from drawings and / or 3D CAD

Ability to learn products lines, processes, and procedures

Must be focused on Continuous Improvement

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITY :

EHS - Responsible for assuring a safe and environmentally safe work area. Assure that all departments operate with Safety first and are in compliance with all blood lead policies, procedures, and guidelines. It is imperative that this role is proactive and is making the work areas safer, more environmentally friendly, and healthier

Quality – Responsible for assuring that all products produced meet or exceed the quality requirement of Mayco Industries and its customers. Verify that all departments are following all Quality policies, procedures, and guidelines

Operate, calibrate and maintain all Optical Emissions Spectrometers

Effectively measure machined, extruded, rolled and cast parts per Mayco and / or customer requirements and accurately document accordingly

Maintain inspection log for all products inspected and generate non-conforming reports for all products that are non-conforming

Monitor, maintain and improve upon calibration system to assure that only properly functioning calibrated measuring tools are being used on the floor and that all out of calibration or defective tools are removed

Develop and maintain 6S program in the QC Lab which shall be audited and recorded daily

Investigate defective products

Conduct Rockwell Hardness Testing as required

Generate Certificates of Analyses and / or Conformance as required for orders

Conduct measurement studies or analyses required by customers or internally

Prepare product for shipment for Level III and Level IV orders

Grading and sorting of incoming raw materials as needed

Assist with Quality System Audits

Able to be “on call” to perform duties in other departments as needed

Communicate Quality trends to QC Supervisor / Manager

Able to read and interpret government and industry specifications, Excel spreadsheets, quality standards, and procedure manuals and must be able to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram forms.

Perform visual and dimensional inspections on incoming parts from customers or other third parties that are to be used for the manufacture of finished product (including casks, dies, etc.) to ensure that they are fit for use in the production process of said finished product

Maintain all controlled document files and test records pertaining to inspection, grading, and testing of material in a manner that is easily accessible and traceable

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

Ability to climb stairs numerous times during shift

Ability to stand and walk up to 10 hours per day

Ability to wear PPE, including, but not limited to, a respirator, hard hat, safety glasses and uniform, for up to 8 hours per day

Capable of lifting heavy objects up to 50 pounds

You should be proficient in :
