Job Title :   CNC Programmer / CNC Machinist

DETAILS :   Direct Hire

Location :   Branford, CT – Onsite

Pay Rate :   $ depending on experience

Training / Shift : New hires will train on first shift, then transition to third shift with a 10% shift differential (if hired for night shift).

Hours :

Night Shift : Monday – Friday, 11 : 00 PM – 7 : 00 AM (Overtime paid at 1.5x for hours worked over 40 / week)

SUMMARY / OBJECTIVE :

We are seeking an experienced CNC Programmer / CNC Machinist to join our Machine Shop team in Branford, CT. This role is responsible for programming, setting up, operating, and maintaining 3 and 5-Axis CNC milling machines and CNC turning lathes to produce precision parts according to technical drawings and quality standards. The ideal candidate will be highly skilled in CAM programming, blueprint interpretation, and machining a wide range of materials while working independently to achieve production goals and uphold quality and safety standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Develop and optimize programs for 5-Axis CNC mills and CNC turning lathes using CAM software.

Review and improve existing programs to increase efficiency and product quality.

Analyze job orders, drawings, blueprints, and specifications to set up CNC machines according to production requirements.

Perform test runs and make adjustments to ensure programs produce parts that meet specifications and quality standards.

Maintain clear and accurate records of CNC operations and program modifications.

Communicate effectively with production team members and supervisors to ensure workflow efficiency and timely completion of projects.

Collaborate with design and production staff to resolve machining or drawing issues.

Train and guide machine operators in proper handling and troubleshooting of CNC equipment.

Set up, operate, and troubleshoot 3 and 5-Axis CNC milling machines.

Machine precision parts from materials such as SS304, 316L, aluminum, and a variety of plastics.

COMPETENCIES :

Quick learner with the ability to edit programs and controls.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Highly dependable with an excellent attendance record.

QUALIFICATIONS :

Proven experience as a CNC Programmer in a manufacturing environment.

Proficiency with CAD / CAM software (Mastercam preferred).

Ability to read and interpret prints (ISO – First Angle Projection).

Familiarity with the metric system.

In-depth understanding of metal properties and machinery.

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Diploma or certification in CNC programming / machining or related field required.

Open to learning new software, controls, and machines.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :

3–5 years of CNC programming / machining experience.

High school diploma from a vocational technical school, completion of an apprenticeship program, or equivalent technical training.

COMPUTER SKILLS :

Familiarity with G & M codes or conversational controls is a plus.
