BACKGROUND :

FHI 360's National Institute for Work and Learning (NIWL) advances solutions in education and workforce systems. JOB SUMMARY :

The Novartis US Foundation recently selected NIWL to manage its Beacon of Hope Coordinating Center. The Beacon of Hope (BOH) initiative is a 10-year commitment launched in 2021 to address disparities in health outcomes by increasing diversity in clinical trials and strengthening infrastructure at Historically Black Medical Schools (HBMSs). As the Coordinating Center, our work will involve management of the initiative, Center of Excellence (COE) oversight, program evaluation, communications, stakeholder engagement, clinical trials and community engagement capacity building and technical assistance.

The BOH Coordinating Center Project Manager position supports and manages core programmatic functions. This involves planning and executing project deliverables within strict deadlines and budget; coordination of cross-disciplinary team members in a matrixed environment; and collaboration with HBCU's, external partners, and our funders. The Project Manager will report to Beacon of Hope Coordinating Center Project Director and work collaboratively with FHI 360 staff implementing the initiative.

RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to :

General Program Management.

Work with the Project Director and NIWL leadership to ensure the successful coordination, management, and implementation of the Beacon of Hope Coordinating Center with quality.

Manages daily operations of the BOH Coordinating Center and coordinating staff outputs across FHI 360.

Create and monitor work plans and deliverables, review and use data to support programmatic effectiveness and continuous program improvement.

Create scopes of work for subgrantees; monitor and track subgrantees and project deliverables.

Develop and deliver project plans, documentation, training, presentations, and budget proposals to management.

Identify and resolve project issues and implement improvement plans to ensure the project stays on schedule and within budget.

Support continuous project improvement.

Create and maintain project materials, including but not limited to standardized operating procedures, protocols, implementation guides, and other templates.

Draft quarterly narrative reports, PPT presentations, and other reports

Schedule, organize, and participate in site visits to Centers of Excellence (subgrantees).

Create process, agendas, content, and logistics for communities of practice and annual convenings of partners.

Collaboration & Communication.

M aintain strong working relationships and consistent communication with internal and external colleagues and program partners throughout the United States.

Prepare and deliver high quality products, including program reports, summaries, and briefs, in a timely fashion.

Facilitate communities of practices and internal project staff meetings

Capacity Building and Technical Assistance.

Oversee quality control.

Conduct analysis of program implementation to identify areas for improvement and propose appropriate technical strategy and guidelines to advance implementation.

Work with project director and subject matter experts to develop materials and tools that support local implementation, foster continuous program improvement, and build local capacity.

Strategic Growth

Participate in new business development functions, as requested.

B uild, develop, and grow partnerships that are vital to the success of the BOH initiative.

Performs other duties, as assigned.

Education :

Bachelor's degree in education policy, education research, higher education, public administration, public policy, sociology, psychology, or related fields.

Master's degree preferred.

Project Management (PM) Certification preferred.

Minimum Requirements :

Typically requires 8+ years of relevant program management experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO), government agency, institution of higher education foundation, or private corporation.

Ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision; ability to meet deadlines under pressure.

Experience in higher education, workforce development, clinical research and / or career and technical education is a plus.

Experience working with and / or attending HBCUs preferred

Has sensitivity to cultural diversity and an understanding of the political, contextual, and ethical issues associated with human centered program implementation and scalability.

Articulate and professional; able to communicate in a clear, positive fashion with corporate clients and staff.

Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English.

Typical Physical Demands :

This position is based out of FHI 360's Washington, DC office. FHI 360 is currently working 100% remotely until further notice.

Typical office environment. Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; ability to lift 5-50 lbs.

Technology to be Used :

Personal Computer, e-mail, telephone, printer, calculator, copier, cell phones, and other hand-held devices.

Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Sharepoint, TEAMS, etc.), customer relations management and business analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Salesforce), program management software (e.g., WorkZone, Jira, Salesforce, etc.), and CMS platforms (e.g., Wordpress).

Travel Requirements :

10% - 15% US domestic travel is expected.
