Minimum educational and training requirements include completion of specialized training in the occupational field, basic skills typically associated with a high school education, sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, ability to meet current requirements set forth by the National Fire Protection Association and the Georgia Firefighter Standards and Training Act, possession of or ability to readily obtain appropriate state EMS certification, and possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
Physical requirements include standing, walking, bending, crouching, or stooping, frequently lifting light and heavy objects, climbing ladders, using tools and equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, and distinguishing between shades of color. The employee may be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, and machinery with moving parts, contagious or infectious diseases, irritating chemicals, and cold or inclement weather. The work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, gloves, etc. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required : balancing, feeling, grasping, handling, hearing 1, hearing 2, kneeling, lifting, manual dexterity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, stooping, talking 1, talking 2, visual acuity 1, visual acuity 2, visual acuity 3, visual acuity 4, visual acuity 5, and walking.
Minimum requirements include being at least 18 years of age, a United States citizen, not having been convicted of a misdemeanor within three (3) years, successfully passing both the background check and physical examination, having visual acuity, being of sound physical and mental health, successfully completing the Candidate Physical Apptitude Test - CPAT, and not having been convicted of a felony.
