job_description.job_card.job_descriptionIdentify hazards at meter sites and report accordingly Properly change out gas meters of varying sizes and brands Properly change out gas meter registers for AMI / AMR upgrade Perform safety checks to ensure proper installation May require walking for long distances (occasionally up to 20 miles per day) in various weather conditions (rain, sleet, hail, snow, extreme heat or cold, etc.) May exert physical force moving objects (routinely 10lbs. of force, up to an occasional 50 lbs. of force) Customer Communication May provide general information about the meter services to customers, when applicable Use telephones, tablets, and / or computers to communicate Education : None . Must be 18 years of age or older. Experience : 2 year’s experience in exchanging gas meters of varying sizes with ability to properly safety test, troubleshoot and relight pilot lights on a variety of existing appliances. Upon hire, the candidate will need to complete and pass all Pipeline Operator Qualification (OQ) training Education : High School Degree Experience : 5 year’s experience in exchanging gas meters of varying sizes with ability to properly safety test, troubleshoot and relight pilot lights on a variety of existing appliances. Must have a valid driver’s license Ability to multi-task and work independently as well as a team Exceptional flexibility in daily routines and route scheduling. Must be flexible in times of need, including extended nights and weekends. About the Role
The Gas Meter Installer reports to the Smart Meter Deployment Manager at Bermex. This position will play a key role in gas meter maintenance, exchange, and measurement. This position requires a high degree of walking in outdoor environmental conditions, excellent time management, and exceptional flexibility day to day. T here will be approximately 80 - 100% travel away from home for extended periods of up to 3 - 4 weeks at a time
