Position Summary

The mechanical engineer ensures operational performance and regulatory compliance of thedesignated mechanical systems and equipment.Assesses, recommends and implements equipment and performance standards that support effective equipment operations and efficient utilities usage. Prioritizes activities related to the installation and modification of building systems and equipment. Troubleshoots complex HVAC, mechanical and controls systems issuesand provides direction for resolution.Develops scope, specifications, and drawings for HVAC / mechanical projects,specifies equipment,obtains quotes, initiates purchase orders, and monitors direct equipment replacement. Performs engineering quality assurance reviews of construction and renovation projects. Leads and developsFOD Operationsemployees and supports the department's goals and mission.

Minimum Qualifications

For Hire :

Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering; experience in HVAC, plumbing, and / or fire protection design, highly desired (preferably in a hospital setting).

Excellent engineering and office software skills.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Professional Engineer license desired, but not required.

Ability to create and maintainstrong team collaboration; and foster a positive work environment.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, diverse and customer service focused environment; and build constructive and effective relationships within team and across the organization.

Ability to comfortably handle risk and uncertainty; can act without having total picture available.

Demonstrated proficient diagnostic skills - able to systematically identify and resolve technical problems.

Valid driver's license.Must live within sixty (60) miles of the Wexner Medical Center’s main campus.
