Job Summary
The Supplemental Physical Therapist is responsible for assessing patients and developing treatment plans based on evaluations that measure neuromuscular and skeletal functions. This role includes documenting findings, monitoring progress, and providing instructions to patients and caregivers. As a mentor and resource, the therapist will guide and train assistants, students, interns, and rehabilitation technicians in patient care.
This is a PRN position focusing on weekend coverage. Minimum availability will be three (3) weekend shifts per six (6) weeks. Training / orientation will be held during the week.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education : Bachelor's or graduate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
- Licenses / Certifications :
- Current license to practice Physical Therapy in Texas or by the Physical Therapy Compact Commission.
- Certification in Basic Life Support.
Experience / Knowledge / Skills :
Preferred one (1) year of experience.Demonstrates readiness to mentor or train staff and supervise clinical interns / students.Provides clinical leadership and showcases expertise in specific patient types or enhances existing clinical programs.Serves as a clinical resource for hospital committees or departmental interest groups.Designs and implements original staff development programs to enhance clinical competencies.Physical demands include occasional / frequent lifting of up to 75 / 100 pounds, carrying up to 30 pounds, prolonged standing, and frequent walking, stooping, and squatting.Requires fine hand dexterity, eye-hand coordination, effective communication, and visual ability for monitoring equipment and recognizing various visual elements.Must demonstrate commitment to a scheduled availability with flexibility in patient care assignments.Principal Accountabilities
For those practicing direct access, one year of experience is required.Responsible for patient care and comprehensive evaluations based on physician referrals.Interprets evaluation findings accurately.Develops written care plans with defined goals based on evaluations.Implements advanced physical therapy treatments while demonstrating competency in physical therapy skills.Monitors and assesses patient progress regularly, adjusting goals and treatments as necessary.Motivates and instructs patients and caregivers with appropriate methods.Effectively communicates with patients, caregivers, colleagues, and insurance representatives.Documents all pertinent information in medical records accurately and efficiently.Acts as a clinical resource and provides leadership within the department.Increases expertise in specific patient populations.Serves as a clinical instructor for PT and PTA interns.Contributes to program development in the department.Engages in community service as a representative of the profession.Presents relevant topics in professional literature at meetings and conferences.Ensures safe care through adherence to all Memorial Hermann policies and standards.Promotes professional growth by completing mandatory training and continuing education.Exemplifies commitment to community care by delivering compassionate, personalized experiences.Other duties as assigned.Join our skilled team and make a difference in the lives of those we serve.
