Join Our Dynamic Team! We are currently seeking a dedicated Full-Time Occupational Therapist to become part of our Physical Medicine Department at our 326-bed acute care hospital. Located in sunny Laredo, Texas, just 150 miles south of historic San Antonio, this role requires flexibility in scheduling to meet the demands of our busy department.
Position Overview
The Occupational Therapist will evaluate, plan, and deliver therapeutic interventions to assist patients in improving their abilities to perform daily living and work activities as directed by a physician. This role includes setting patient-centered treatment goals, regular progress assessments, and maintaining comprehensive documentation. Collaboration with an interdisciplinary team is key to enhancing patient outcomes while ensuring compliance with regulations and respecting patient privacy and rights.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough occupational therapy evaluations to assess patients' physical, cognitive, and emotional needs, documenting findings with precision.
- Create personalized treatment plans with clear, measurable goals and effective interventions, ensuring that plans are accessible for collaboration with occupational therapy assistants.
- Deliver safe and efficient treatment interventions, including therapeutic exercises, adaptive equipment training, and patient education, with appropriate session documentation.
- Reassess patient progress regularly, updating treatment plans as needed, and communicate changes with the care team and referring physician.
- Work closely with a multidisciplinary care team, including physicians and other rehabilitation professionals, to optimize patient outcomes and ensure cohesive care.
- Demonstrate expertise in treating diverse patient populations, adapting methods and interventions to meet specific needs.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment for both patients and staff while ensuring proper care and maintenance of therapeutic equipment.
- Mentor and support new staff and occupational therapy students, promoting professional growth and adherence to best practices.
- Ensure billing documentation is accurate, timely, and reflects provided services, complying with organizational and regulatory standards.
- Complete other responsibilities as assigned and comply with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
Required : 1-3 years of clinical experience as an Occupational Therapist.Preferred : Experience in a hospital or rehabilitation facility.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong understanding of occupational therapy practices and evidence-based interventions.Proficient in evaluations and developing individualized treatment plans.Excellent communication and collaboration skills with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members.Strong organizational and time management skills.Able to mentor and train new staff in occupational therapy practices.Committed to maintaining patient privacy and ethical standards.Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems for documentation and reporting.Licenses and Certifications
