Position Summary
MISSSEY is thrilled to be expanding our senior leadership team and recruiting for a Finance & Operations Manager . This is an opportunity for a highly skilled professional ideally with experience in nonprofit administration to help shape the strategic operations infrastructure and systems of a dynamic mission-driven organization.
The Finance & Operations Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficiency sustainability and compliance of our internal systems as we close partnership with the Executive Director and senior management team this role will oversee financial coordination HR processes administrative systems organizational policies vendor and facilities management and overall compliance.
This position is ideal for someone who has worked in or with nonprofits grassroots organizations or other values-based institutions and who is excited to build strong internal systems that support direct service to youth.
The Ideal Candidate Will :
- Be deeply aligned with MISSSEYs mission values and trauma-informed practices
- Bring at least 4 years of experience in nonprofit or mission-driven operations finance or HR leadership
- Understand the nuances of nonprofit finance grant compliance and funder expectations
- Thrive in collaborative equity-centered work environments that require flexibility and strategic thinking
- Be comfortable managing systems people and projects in a fast-paced resource-conscious setting
- Have strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to keep multiple priorities moving
- Bring a passion for building operational systems that support healing sustainability and impact
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Organizational Management (45%)
Develop and implement internal systems policies and workflows that support MISSSEYs trauma-informed survivor-centered modelOversee human resources functions including hiring onboarding training employee records and compliance with employment lawMaintain organizational policies and employee handbook updating as needed to reflect legal changes and best practicesCoordinate risk management contracts legal compliance and organizational insuranceManage tech systems software tools and databases to support staff productivity and data securityOversee vendor relationships office management and general administrative supportFinance & Budget Oversight (35%)
Collaborate with the Executive Director and fiscal partners to support annual budgeting financial planning and projectionsMonitor and ensure compliance with government contracts private grants and restricted / unrestricted fundingOversee payroll accounts payable / receivable financial tracking and audit preparationMaintain and improve internal financial systems and controls in alignment with nonprofit best practicesFacilities & Resource Management (5%)
Oversee day-to-day office needs equipment and workspace logisticsManage inventory procurement and vendor coordinationSupport emergency preparedness safety protocols and crisis response plansStrategic Leadership & Organizational Culture (15%)
Serve as a key member of the senior leadership team contributing to organizational planning and internal cultureCollaborate with other leaders to develop and refine cross-departmental systems and decision-making processesHelp build and sustain a supportive mission-aligned workplace rooted in equity and healing practicesQualifications
Education
Bachelors degree in Business Administration Nonprofit Management Public Administration or a related field preferredEquivalent nonprofit leadership or operations experience may substitute for formal educationExperience
Minimum 4 years of experience in nonprofit or mission-driven operations managementDemonstrated experience in nonprofit HR compliance finance and administrative systemsFamiliarity with managing contracts facilities vendor relationships and IT systemsExperience working with youth-serving organizations survivor-centered programs or social justice movements is a plusKnowledge Skills and Abilities
Strong understanding of nonprofit finance and funder complianceFamiliarity with tools such as QuickBooks ADP / Gusto Google Workspace and project management platformsAbility to create and implement policies and procedures in small to mid-sized organizationsExcellent communication project management and leadership skillsCommitment to equity inclusion and trauma-informed organizational developmentAbility to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced collaborative work environmentPhysical Demands & Work Environment
This is an in-person position based in a shared office setting in Oakland CAMay require occasional local travel for meetings trainings or partner collaborationsMust be able to sit for extended periods use a computer daily and lift up to 50 lbs occasionallyA valid drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle are preferredCompensation & Benefits
