Project Archaeologist Principal Investigator – North Central Texas Halff is seeking a Project Archaeologist Principal Investigator (PI) based out of the Dallas-Fort Worth area, to join our talented team of cultural resources professionals and manage projects in the north central Texas region. The qualified candidate must meet the Secretary of Interior’s Standards and Guidelines for Archaeology and Historic Preservation and professional qualification requirements for Principal Investigator (13 Texas Administrative Code 26.4), have no prior Texas Antiquities Permits in default, hold a master’s degree in Anthropology / Archaeology and have a minimum of 5 years of Cultural Resource Management (CRM) experience as a PI in Texas. What you will do :
- Supervise on archeological surveys, including those with backhoe trenching
- Perform National Register of Historic Places and / or State Antiquities Landmark eligibility evaluations of archeological sites,
- Report writing and the management of projects from start to finish
- Split time between conducting client / agency coordination, archeological surveys, technical writing and managing CRM projects as a PI with minimum supervision
- Consult with project sponsors and state / federal regulatory agencies
- Conduct background research and obtain Antiquities permits
- Write scopes of work and conduct / Manage field work
- Interpret archeological data and author reports
- Engage with existing and potential clients to foster repeat and new business.
