About the Role

The Company is seeking a Chair for its Department of Biomedical Sciences. The successful candidate will provide academic leadership for the discipline, maintaining and leading a department that supports a large interdisciplinary community of faculty educators, residents, and students. This role involves the recruitment, mentorship, administrative supervision, and evaluation of all faculty within the department. The Chair will also be responsible for the design, development, and management of the curriculum in the basic medical sciences, ensuring it meets the educational and accreditation needs of the medical school. Additionally, the Chair is expected to oversee curricular enhancements, develop interdisciplinary research teams, and serve as an advocate for educational programs within the medical school. Applicants for the Chair position must have a Doctorate in a basic science discipline (PhD or MD / PhD) with a minimum of 10 years of work experience and must meet the qualifications for appointment at Full Professor. The role requires a candidate with a record of sustained accomplishments and evidence of leadership in a basic science discipline and medical education. The Chair should be a role model for faculty and learners, demonstrating the highest level of personal and professional commitment, enthusiasm, and integrity. Responsibilities also include serving as the Assistant Dean for Foundations of Medicine and aligning the department with the medical school's mission, vision, and values. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in research, be adept at integrating advanced technologies into curriculum delivery, and be able to work effectively with other academic leaders to provide vision and long-term planning for the educational mission of the medical school.
