Dental Assistant
This Dental Assistant position supports the Russell Street Dental Clinic and multiple departments within the School of Dentistry. The role requires flexibility and adaptability to meet the varying needs of different departments. The primary work locations are the Russell Street Dental Clinic and the School of Dentistry in the Robertson Life Sciences Building on the South Waterfront. EFDA certification is highly encouraged.
Responsibilities :
- Provide chairside support to surgeons, residents, interns, and students, addressing specific patient needs and offering educational and operative instruction.
- Perform duties such as suctioning, disinfection of treatment rooms, 4-and 6-handed dentistry, tray setup and breakdown, and instrument sterilization.
- Communicate post-operative instructions to patients, take impressions, and pour models.
- Organize the workday according to the patient schedule and oversee the patient throughout the appointment.
- Record basic patient and vital information, collaborate with providers to enter treatment plans and consents, and manage patient records.
- Coordinate with the scheduling team for follow-up appointments, prepare instruments for sterilization, and disinfect clinical rooms.
- Maintain and manage inventory, assemble and organize supplies, place orders as needed, and clean and stock supplies in clinical areas.
- Assist other dental assistants through training and guidance, support team initiatives, and communicate with schedulers, billing, and environmental services.
- Guide dental students in four-handed dentistry and chairside techniques, reinforce aseptic techniques, and evaluate students for infection control compliance.
- Perform responsibilities in compliance with state and national regulations, including OSHA and HIPAA.
Essential Skills :
Graduate of an accredited dental assisting program.At least 1 year of experience as a chairside Dental Assistant within the last 5 years.Certification by the Oregon State Board of Dentistry for Radiological Proficiency (DANB).BLS Certification through the American Heart Association.Experience in instrument sterilization.Proven reliability and excellent attendance.Additional Skills & Qualifications :
Oregon Dental Assistant Certification.Experience in patient care, dental procedures, and maintaining patient records.Work Environment :
The position is located at the OHSU Russell Street Dental Clinic, with a schedule of Monday-Friday, 7 : 30 AM - 4 : 30 PM (5x8s - 40 hours / week). The assignment length is 12 weeks with a high likelihood of extension or conversion to a permanent role.Physical demands include the ability to push / pull / lift over 50 pounds, stand and walk for extended periods, and perform repetitive motions. Personal protective equipment is required for safety.The role involves collaboration with a diverse dental team in a dynamic clinical setting.Job Type & Location :

Pay and Benefits :
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $26.00 / hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
