Dental Assistant Opening
Key responsibilities include patient care and dental assisting, providing chairside support to surgeons, residents, interns, and students. The assistant works within the dental team to address specific patient needs and provide educational and operative instruction. Duties may include suctioning, disinfection of treatment rooms and surgical suites, 4-and 6-handed dentistry, tray setup and breakdown, and instrument sterilization. The assistant communicates post-operative instructions to patients, takes impressions, and pours models.
Clinical operations responsibilities include organizing the workday according to the patient schedule and being responsible for the patient throughout the appointment. The assistant takes and records basic patient and vital information, works with providers to enter treatment plans and consents, and manages patient records. They communicate with the scheduling team for follow-up appointments, prepare instruments for sterilization, and disinfect clinical rooms.
Educational support includes guiding dental students in four-handed dentistry and chairside techniques, reinforcing aseptic techniques, posture, chair positioning, instrument exchange, use of dental materials, and efficient operatory setup. The assistant explains and demonstrates equipment care, evaluates students for infection control compliance, and matches students with clinic partners, which may include patient assignments.

Additional Skills & Qualifications : Graduate of accredited dental assisting program. 1+ year(s) experience as a chairside Dental Assistant - must have worked as a dental assistant within the last 5 years. Certification by the Oregon State Board Dentistry for Radiological Proficiency (DANB). BLS Cert (Basic Life Support) - MUST be through the AHA (American Heart Association). Experienced in instrument sterilization. Proven reliability and excellent attendance.

Pay and Benefits : The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $26.00 / hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
