The Ayer Neuroscience Institute at Hartford HealthCare  has a new opportunity available for a Neurosurgery Physician Assistant / APRN to join our Advanced Practice team at

Hartford Hospital located in Hartford, CT.

Practice autonomously, but collaboratively, with a team of attending neurosurgeons and APPs providing advanced specialized care to neurosurgical patients including open spine, MIS spine and deformity, intracranial cases, neurovascular, peripheral nerve, neurotrauma, and neuro-interventional radiological cases.

This role will assist in providing 24 / 7 coverage on the inpatient side of neurosurgery including a fair combination of weekdays (day & night shifts), weekends (day & night shifts), and holidays. Experience excellent time off opportunities and a flexible schedule while maintaining 24 / 7 coverage as a department.

Job details

• Managing neurosurgical brain and spine patients on the floor, stepdown, and ICU settings.
• Intake H&Ps, progress notes, consultations, pre- and post-operative care, and discharges.
• Providing neurosurgical consultations in the hospital and in the emergency department.
• Performing bedside procedures : external ventricular drains, ICP monitors, lumbar drains, shunt taps.
• First assisting the attending neurosurgeon in the operating room in brain and spine surgeries.
• Shifts total 3 13-hour shifts per week.

Excellent scheduling flexibility that favors achieving time off requests while meeting the needs of the service line. Permanent nights role
