Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Plumbing Engineer to join our MEP design team. The ideal candidate will have 5–6 years of hands-on experience in plumbing design, system coordination, and construction administration. This role involves leading the design of plumbing systems for commercial, educational, healthcare, and institutional projects while ensuring compliance with codes, standards, and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Design plumbing systems, including domestic water, sanitary waste, stormwater, natural gas, medical gases, and specialty piping systems.
Prepare detailed drawings, specifications, and calculations for plumbing projects.
Coordinate plumbing system designs with mechanical, electrical, structural, and architectural disciplines.
Review and interpret construction documents, shop drawings, and submittals.
Conduct site visits, field inspections, and provide construction administration support.
Ensure designs meet all applicable building codes, standards, and client requirements.
Mentor junior engineers and designers, providing technical guidance and quality oversight.
Communicate directly with clients, contractors, and project teams to achieve project goals.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
5–6+ years of plumbing system design experience within an MEP consulting or engineering firm.
Strong knowledge of plumbing codes and standards (IPC, UPC, NFPA, ASPE, etc.).
Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent communication, coordination, and project management skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) on track to licensure.
ASPE (American Society of Plumbing Engineers) membership or certification.
Prior experience in designing plumbing systems for large commercial, healthcare, or institutional facilities.
Familiarity with sustainable design practices, water conservation strategies, and LEED standards.
