A&K Railroad Materials Inc. is a leading supplier of new and used railroad track materials. A&K has sales offices, and a network of storage and distribution facilities strategically located throughout the United States. Together, these offices and inventory locations maintain an extensive and comprehensive inventory of track materials across the nation. Our mission is to provide innovative solutions to promote lasting railway infrastructure.

We are looking for a technically skilled and solution-oriented Data Analyst to join our Salt Lake City, UT office. This role is central to providing business intelligence and supporting data-driven decision-making across all departments.

This role requires someone who can not only write SQL queries and build Power BI dashboards, but also collaborate across departments, ask the right questions, and translate business needs into technical solutions. We need someone who thrives with clear goals but can navigate the ambiguity between the problem and the solution with confidence, creativity, and ownership.

Key Tasks

  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reporting tools (Power BI, Excel) that serve various departments
  • Work directly with Sales, Operations, Accounting, and other teams to understand reporting needs and translate them into scalable data solutions
  • Support regular reporting cycles (weekly / monthly / quarterly) by preparing and distributing standardized reports to stakeholders
  • Help define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) across departments to measure progress toward business goals
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and increase operational efficiency
  • Support training efforts by helping end users understand and navigate dashboards and reports
  • Assist in data quality efforts by identifying anomalies, missing data, or inconsistencies and coordinating with appropriate teams to resolve them
  • Participate in ad-hoc projects and contribute to cross-functional team initiatives

  • Requirements

    Qualifications / Requirements

  • Proficient in building dashboards and reports using Power BI and Excel
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and gather business requirements
  • Excellent documentation habits and attention to detail
  • Experience analyzing operational, financial, or sales data is preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a plus
  • Familiarity with SQL and a willingness to learn and grow
