The ideal candidate brings a strong track record of scaling data and backend platforms and managing technical teams. Experience in the apparel retail industry and the Shopify platform is a strong plus. ________________________________________ Key Responsibilities : Leadership & Strategy
- Lead and scale a high-performing team of backend and data engineers.
- Partner with business stakeholders to define and execute on a data lake roadmap that supports our growth and innovation goals.
- Shape engineering culture to emphasize performance, scalability, experimentation, and continuous improvement. Backend Engineering & Cloud Architecture
- Architect and maintain scalable, secure microservices and APIs built on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Drive best practices in DevOps, CI / CD, observability, and infrastructure automation.
- Build and optimize backend platforms that power core retail operations and digital customer experiences. Enterprise Data
- Own the architecture and evolution of enterprise data systems - including data lakes, ETL pipelines, real-time data processing, and analytics platforms.
- Ensure robust data governance, privacy, and security across all platforms. Retail & E-Commerce Technology
- Oversee backend integrations with Shopify, ERP, POS, and customer systems.
- Guide the development of APIs and data flows supporting headless commerce, omnichannel retail, and modern e-commerce experiences.
- Use domain knowledge in apparel retail to influence product features and system design aligned with business needs. ________________________________________ Qualifications :
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, with 2+ years in a director-level or senior leadership role.
- Deep expertise in backend development and cloud-native architecture on GCP (BigQuery, Vertex AI, Cloud Run, Pub / Sub, etc.).
- Proven experience building and scaling enterprise data systems.
- Strong technical foundation in microservices, APIs, and event-driven architecture.
- Experience with Shopify and retail technology stack is highly preferred.
- Strong people management skills with a passion for mentorship and team building.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
