Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced OR RN for a hospital-based Operating Room position in Washington, DC, requiring a valid or pending DC RN license and at least 2 years of OR experience.
Responsibilities
Position is in a hospital Operating Room settingCovers a broad range of surgical cases including bariatrics, ENT, neurology, orthopedics, and urologySpecial procedures include total joints, spine, craniotomy, free flaps, cytoreduction, bariatric, and ENT / OMF surgeriesDay shift, 3x12 hour shifts from 11 : 00 to 23 : 30Required to float to units of equivalent or lower level of acuityOn-call required, 6 calls per 6 week scheduleWeekend requirement is 1 shift per 6 week scheduleScrub color is ceil blueDuties include caring for a diverse surgical population and assisting with specialized proceduresOrientation includes completion of required modules, which may vary by specialtyTeam supports floating based on acuity level needsDress code is ceil blue scrubs, not provided by facilityHoliday coverage may be required based on assignmentRTO should be submitted up front, limited to 7 days per 13 week contract, and none allowed in the first two weeksLocal candidates within 60 miles are acceptedRequirements
Active DC RN license in hand, or proof of pending DC license at time of considerationMinimum of 2 years recent OR RN experienceBasic Life Support (BLS) certification requiredAdvanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferredDemonstrated experience in general OR, bariatrics, ENT, neurology, orthopedic, and urology proceduresFirst-time travelers accepted with required experienceFlu vaccination required prior to startTwo recent supervisor references requiredReturn staff must have a 1 year separation before returning as a travelerBenefits
