About the Role

The Company is seeking a Senior Counsel for Energy Systems with a focus on commercial matters. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality and practical legal advice on a range of commercial issues, including customer and supplier contracts, claims, and strategic legal matters. This role involves working closely with internal clients at all management levels, managing outside counsel, and representing the company in commercial negotiations and disputes. The primary focus will be on new plant matters in North America, but the role also supports global business activities. The Senior Counsel will be expected to remain current on legal developments, ensure compliance with laws and regulations, and engage with specialists to mitigate risks in various legal areas.

Applicants must have a J.D. from an accredited law school, at least 5 years' of experience in complex commercial contract negotiations or commercial litigation, and be admitted to practice in a US jurisdiction. A strong background in commercial business issues, particularly in engineering, procurement, and construction contract negotiations, is essential. The role requires a candidate with a working knowledge of related legal areas, including international disputes, intellectual property law, and international arbitration. Experience with international contract forms and a proven track record in developing high-quality legal documents are also beneficial. The ideal candidate will be a strategic partner to the commercial team, with the ability to provide prompt, practical, and risk-informed legal counsel.
