Position Summary

This position will assist the Director with archaeological and site file curation and collections management. Position includes tasks related to curation and collections management, database entry, implementation of contracts and grants, collections focused engagement and public outreach. This position will assist in efforts related to the stewardship of collections according to best practices and help with managing researcher and student access to the collections. Position also includes creation and implementation of communication, outreach, and education strategies.

Physical Demands

Requires sitting at a desk for long periods of time and working at a computer. Must be able to life file boxes that may weigh up to 40 pounds.

Duties / Responsibilities

Assist the Director with database management as it relates to archaeological and site file curation and collections management. These include using the Laboratory's database management system to manage archaeological and site file project information, create finding aids, update curation inventories, update barcodes for bags and boxes, link paper and digital documents to projects, and other entry and information management duties as it pertains to the Laboratory's database. Other tasks as assigned.

Assist the Director with curation and collections management tasks including rebagging, reboxing, rehousing, and inventorying archaeological collections. This also includes archival rehousing, management, and digital preservation as it relates to the associated documents and media from archaeological collections. Other tasks as assigned.

Assist the Director with managing projects from contracts and grants. This includes assisting with planning, organizing, and managing resources, students and timelines to bring about the successful completion of the goals and objectives of the contracts and grants.

Assist the Director with focused engagement and public outreach. This includes development of outreach strategies, planning of outreach campaigns and events, managing outreach marketing and resources, giving tours, assisting with exhibits.
