About The Position

Job Title : PICU Registered Nurse

Experience : Minimum of 1 year in PICU

License : Valid nursing license required

Certifications : Required certifications include BLS and PALS

Must-Have :

Must have experience with intubated patients, running drips, sedations, ICP monitoring, EVDs, and handling emergency situations.

Candidates must have 1 year of PICU experience.

Must be comfortable with travel positions and able to work weekends on shared schedules.

Description :

This position involves caring for pediatric patients requiring intensive care.

The average census is 4-5 patients with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1 : 1 or 1 : 2.

Common diagnoses include respiratory issues, diabetic ketoacidosis, traumas, and surgical patients.

Experience in administering and titrating drips for cardiac conditions, insulin, heparin, and sedation is required.

Charge nurses take assignments and may modify them based on patient needs.

Registered nurses are responsible for reading and interpreting their own telemetry strips.

A pediatrician is available in-house 24 / 7, with residents also on-site around the clock.

Registered nurses may need to float to different units, including pediatric and adult areas as necessary.

The dress code is clean and professional, suitable for a pediatric environment.

Orientation includes a general hospital orientation followed by unit-specific training.
