Employment Type : Part-time Contract (As-Needed)

Hourly Rate : $120.00 / hour

Position Overview :

The Juvenile Justice Intervention Center (JJIC), operated by the City of New Orleans, is a secure detention facility for youth awaiting court proceedings or placement. JJIC provides trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate medical and behavioral health care to residents, many of whom present with complex needs. We are seeking dedicated healthcare and behavioral health professionals to join our on-site team, delivering high-quality care 24 / 7 in compliance with state, federal, and juvenile justice standards.

Qualifications :

  • Education : MD or DO
  • Licensure : Active Louisiana Medical License
  • E xperience : Adolescent medicine, correctional health, or juvenile detention settings (preferred)
  • Technical Skills : HIPAA / juvenile health regulations expertise
  • Soft Skills : Trauma-informed care approach, systems thinking, collaborative leadership

    • Key Responsibilities :

  • Provide clinical oversight for 24 / 7 medical coverage.
  • Approve standing orders and review all youth health appraisals within 5 days of arrival.
  • Review medication administration records and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
  • Consult with the Nurse Manager to optimize clinic operations.
  • Ensure continuity of care with backup coverage as needed.
