Summary

GAMA-1 Technologies is seeking a System Administrator II to install, configure, and maintain an organization's Linux and Windows physical and virtual servers in an on-site and telework environment. Perform system monitoring and verify the integrity and availability of hardware, network, and server resources and systems. Review system and application logs and verify completion of scheduled jobs, including system backups. Analyze network and server resource consumption and control user access. Install and upgrade software and maintain software licenses. May assist in network modeling, analysis, planning, and coordination between network and data communications hardware and software.

  • Administer user accounts, permissions, and access rights across the network and applications; ensure compliance with security policies and procedures.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, or other network and system problems, and replace defective components when necessary
  • Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations
  • Perform routine network startup and shutdown procedures and maintain control records
  • Monitor network performance to determine whether adjustments are needed and where changes will be needed in the future
  • Configure, monitor, and maintain email applications or virus protection software
  • Train users in computer system use
  • Recommend changes to improve systems and network configurations, and determine hardware or software requirements related to such changes
  • Design, configure, and test computer hardware, networking software and operating system software
  • Maintain logs related to network functions, as well as maintenance and repair records
  • Monitor and manage IT assets and inventory

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as a System Administrator
  • Proven experience in developing and maintaining configuration standards and documentation
  • Comprehensive knowledge of networking protocols, including LAN and WAN technologies
  • Hands-on experience integrating Linux systems with Active Directory for centralized authentication and authorization
  • Proficiency in performing distribution upgrades and managing patches in Linux environments
  • Skilled in evaluating networks and systems to ensure reliability and scalability in alignment with evolving organizational needs
  • Strong ability to communicate technical concepts and procedures to non-technical stakeholders
  • Expertise in diagnosing and resolving issues related to computer networks and systems
  • Solid programming background with proficiency in utilizing a wide range of hardware and software tools
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant certifications such as A+, Network+, Security+, RHCSA, RHCE, CCNA, or Microsoft Azure
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (Bash, PowerShell, Python) with the ability to leverage diverse hardware and software tools
  • Extensive experience administering Linux (RHEL and Rocky) in enterprise environments
  • In-depth knowledge of networking protocols, including LAN and WAN technologies
  • Hands-on experience integrating Linux authentication with Microsoft Entra ID (Azure Active Directory) for hybrid identity management
  • Work authorization / security clearance requirements

    Ability to obtain a government security clearance

    Physical demands

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organizations and client facilities
  • The base salary range for this position is $94,925- $133,810.

    This base salary range represents a general guideline. An individual’s base salary within that range is determined based on a variety of factors, including (without limitation) the scope, complexities, and responsibilities of the position, the government contract to which the position is assigned, geographic location, market conditions, and the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and skills.
