Graduate Intern Business Operations in R&D Strategy & Operations
Let's do this. Let's change the world. We have multiple openings for graduate level students to further their educational goals. This internship will be approximately 12 weeks and includes both project-based and experiential learning. The intern will be an integral member of the R&D Strategy and Operations (RDSO) organization, which is focused on driving innovation beyond the molecule and applying digital (and other) strategies to simplify processes. The 4 functional areas within RDSO are :
- Portfolio, Strategy & Execution : Catalyzing innovative drug development through insights-driven decisions and strategic R&D portfolio management
- R&D Business Operations : Innovating excellence and navigating efficiency to manage R&D operational activities, including budget and contracting, suppliers, laboratories, biospecimen and research compliance, environmental, social & governance (ESG)
- R&D Training & Development : Transforming and advancing digitization and contemporized learning as well as cultivating talent & culture for a people-centric and inclusive workforce
- Strategy and Performance Excellence (SPx) : Powering-up industry-leading R&D through three key pillars : strategy, functional transformation, and performance excellence
As a member of Amgen's R&D Business Operations (BusOps) group in RDSO organization, your work will be highly collaborative across multiple functions and levels within Amgen, including, Research & Development, Chief Medical Office, Chief Technology Office, Quality & Compliance, and others.
BusOps includes the following six verticals that support the broad business operational needs within the R&D division. You will be uniquely responsible for supporting one or more of these key verticals to advance RDSO's mission :
Budget Planning & Management - Aligns across R&D functions to deliver on financial functional planningSupplier Management - Manages third party risk, leverage external supply to support our portfolio needsGlobal Business Transactions Center - Executes business processes required for financial transactions and contractingBusiness Analytics - Collaborates with leadership to turn analytics into insights that identify, create, and deliver value & resultsGlobal Lab Operations - Enables lab operations excellenceBusiness Resilience - Manages Business Resilience Program for R&D & Ethical Research ESGThis description serves as a general outline for the responsibilities of a graduate intern in RDSO's BusOps. 18 years or olderGraduated with a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or universityCurrently enrolled in an MBA program for an MBA internship OR a Master's program for a Master's internship OR a PharmD program for a PharmD internship OR Ph.D. for a PhD internship from an accredited college or university and completion of the first year of MBA OR Master's OR Pharm D OR Ph.D. program before the internship startsEnrolled in an accredited college or university following the potential internship or co-op assignmentMust not be employed at the time the internship startsStudent must be located in the United States for the duration of the internship / co-opInterns Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. for the duration of this program.
