Position :   Controller

Location : New Haven County, CT - Possibility for remote

Employment Type : Full-Time / Direct Hire

Salary : $175k - $195k (Depending on experience)

Summary of Duties

We are seeking a highly strategic and results-driven Controller  to oversee the financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting functions of the organization. The Controller will be a key member of the executive team, responsible for driving financial performance and leading fiscal strategy.

Primary Responsibilities

Lead and manage all month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, including preparation of accurate and timely financial statements.

Develop and evaluate financial performance metrics aligned with long-term operational goals and strategies.

Establish pro-forma plans for new business initiatives.

Design and oversee the company’s annual and monthly operating budgets.

Prepare, present, and analyze detailed financial reports by division / community (P&L, budget variance, cash flow).

Oversee FP&A functions; lead software implementation and reporting tools.

Ensure financial systems, databases, and software are optimized and in compliance with internal controls and SOX standards.

Deliver comprehensive reporting to internal stakeholders

Coordinate with external accounting firms for timely and accurate filing of all tax returns.

Manage cash flow planning and ensure ongoing fund availability.

Lead and develop a high-performing finance team, including training, performance evaluation, and strategic workforce management.

Qualifications

Bachelors Degree required, Master’s degree highly preferred

CPA designation a plus

Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience in Finance / Accounting

Proven experience within the healthcare industry highly preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Strategic thinker with a strong operational and analytical mindset

Effective communicator with the ability to engage across all levels of an organization

Decisive leader with a systems-oriented perspective and deep financial expertise

Proficient in interpreting complex financial documents

Up to date on audit best practices and regulatory compliance across local, state, and federal levels
