Controls Engineer - DeltaV / Honeywell

General Description

We are looking for a qualified control systems engineer in Sugar Land, TX, who will be responsible for programming, system configuration, system documentation, factory acceptance testing, and field start-up and commissioning activities, specifically focusing on Honeywell & DeltaV systems, among others.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering plus 5 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong experience and proficiency in programming Honewell and DeltaV Distributed Control Systems
  • Expertise in Modbus, Ethernet / IP, and OPC communications protocols
  • Strong understanding of control panels, panel wiring drawings, and field wiring diagrams
  • Proficiency in P&IDs, including :

a.Ability to assist in creating new P&IDs

b.Ability to review and analyze existing P&IDs

c.Capability to generate Instrument & I / O Lists from P&IDs

  • Familiarity with ISA tagging conventions
  • Desirable

  • Experience and proficiency in programming :
  • a.PLCs (Allen-Bradley preferred)

    b.HMIs (Inductive Automation Ignition, AVEVA / Wonderware System Platform, Rockwell FactoryTalk View, GE iFIX preferred)

    c.Other (Omni Flow Computer, ROC, Load Metering Devices)

  • Development of operational and technical manuals, including training guides, HMI manuals, and operating procedures
  • Knowledge of Electrical Protection Relays
  • Knowledge of Historian systems
  • Knowledge of external notification systems (text, email, mobile app, etc.)
  • Familiarity with DeviceNet and / or Profibus communications protocols
  • Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of logic diagrams, cause & effect matrices, and functional narratives
  • Assist in the development and / or review of control panel design packages, field wiring diagrams, conduit & cable schedules, and associated E&I package deliverables
  • Participate in field verification and user requirements gathering walkdowns
  • Develop DCS / PLC / HMI programming
  • Perform factory acceptance testing
  • Carry out field start-up and commissioning, including troubleshooting support
  • Assist in client training sessions
  • Provide after-hours support for internal / external clients as needed
  • Collaborate with Senior Engineering Leads and Project Managers to ensure quality of deliverables, budget adherence, etc. Keep Project Managers informed of progress and any issues
  • Travel up to 25% with ability to travel by air
