About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Manager, Mainframe to lead the continuous availability, performance, and modernization of our mainframe environment. This strategic leadership role ensures 24 / 7 system reliability, oversees capacity planning and security, and drives integration of new technologies to support enterprise initiatives. You’ll work closely with IT leadership, business partners, and managed service providers to optimize technology investments and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and Manage Mainframe Operations : Oversee all mainframe systems to ensure 24x7 uptime, performance, and security.
- Strategic Technology Planning : Develop and execute plans for system upgrades, capacity management, and long-term technology direction aligned with business needs.
- Vendor and Contract Management : Negotiate and manage hardware, software, and services contracts to ensure maximum value and performance.
- Team Leadership : Manage and mentor a team of mainframe professionals; establish clear goals, accountability, and professional development.
- Cybersecurity & Disaster Recovery : Maintain strong security standards, oversee recovery plans, and ensure business continuity readiness.
- Technology Integration : Guide and support corporate projects requiring mainframe or hybrid infrastructure solutions, ensuring smooth integration with existing systems.
- Budget & Resource Management : Oversee departmental budgets, evaluate technology ROI, and ensure cost efficiency across operations.
Qualifications
Education : Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science, or equivalent experience.Experience : 5–7 years of technology management experience.Strong knowledge of mainframe systems (MVS, CICS, DB2, VTAM, TCP / IP, etc.) and Windows environments.Proven success managing vendor relationships and contract negotiations.Experience leading IT teams and managing large-scale infrastructure projects.Technical Skills :
Expertise in mainframe operations and performance tuning.Understanding of cybersecurity operations, cloud infrastructure (AWS), and disaster recovery processes.Familiarity with modern IT frameworks such as DevSecOps, automation, and risk-based operations.Personal Attributes
