POSITION PURPOSE AND SUMMARY :
We are seeking a dedicated and organized individual to join our team as a Development and Volunteer Manager. In this role, you will be responsible for helping develop and implement donor relations and stewardship systems to promote engagement with and recognition of donors at all levels as well as overseeing The Hidden Genius Project’s donor database and volunteer management systems. This role involves maintaining accurate donor and volunteer records, coordinating volunteer recruitment and engagement, and supporting fundraising efforts.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Essential Functions :
Donor Engagement :
Maintain and update the donor database, ensuring accurate and complete records of donor information, contributions, and interactions.
Implement data entry protocols and procedures to ensure data integrity and accuracy.
Regularly clean and deduplicate the database to eliminate redundancies and maintain data quality.
Generate reports on donor activity, contribution summaries, fundraising progress, and donor retention rates.
Conduct data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for donor engagement and fundraising strategies.
Assist in the development and implementation of donor stewardship strategies, including personalized communications and recognition programs.
Volunteer Recruitment and Engagement :
Develop and implement volunteer recruitment strategies to attract qualified individuals to support The Hidden Genius Project’s initiatives.
Coordinate volunteer onboarding, including orientation, training, and necessary paperwork
Maintain volunteer records and ensure accurate and up-to-date information in the volunteer management system.
Facilitate volunteer skills based strategies and opportunities, scheduling and assignments, matching volunteers' skills and interests with organizational needs.
Provide ongoing support and engagement opportunities for volunteers, fostering a positive volunteer experience.
Steward volunteer relationships and develop strategies to transform volunteers into donors.
Collaborate with Site Directors to identify volunteer needs and develop volunteer job descriptions.
Recognize and appreciate volunteers for their contributions and celebrate milestones and achievements.
Evaluate and track volunteer impact, providing reports on volunteer engagement and effectiveness.
Perform data analysis as needed for staff and board reporting to demonstrate volunteer program effectiveness and growth
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to data protection policies regarding donor and volunteer information.
Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in donor and volunteer management.
Liaise with The Hidden Genius Project staff as needed to oversee activities of the group
Collaborate with other departments to support cross-functional initiatives and projects as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES : Required :
At least 3 years of experience managing fundraising projects, or an equivalent, in a fast-paced, professional environment; preference for experience in a nonprofit role.
Excellent writing skills with experience developing and managing content for multiple audiences and channels.
Experience managing and growing relationships with stakeholders or supporters.
Attention to detail, a proven ability to stay organized, and an enjoyment of collaborating closely with team members to move projects forward. Willingness to take on a wide variety of tasks in a small nonprofit environment. Strong track record of attendance, punctuality, and meeting deadlines.
Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Mail Merge, and Google Suite. Experience using a contact relationship database (such as CiviCRM or SalesForce) requires.
Willingness to travel to and staff events around the Bay Area and other sites as needed, transport event supplies, and work occasional extended hours for events on evenings and weekends.
Passion for working with nonprofit organizations.
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (such as nonprofit management, business administration, or communication) or equivalent work experience.
ROLE OVERVIEW : Role Location : Central locationStatus : ExemptSchedule : 40 hours per week, starting July 2025, including evenings and weekends as needed.
Manages : Employees, Interns, and volunteers (including attraction and coordination tasks)

Our organization operates within a dynamic structure that supports both site-based and central team roles. Site-based team members play a key role in our 15-month youth program, with an immersive summer schedule (Monday-Friday, between 7 AM - 6 PM for seven weeks) and a structured fall schedule that includes full-time hours, one evening per week, and one Saturday per month. Meanwhile, central team members maintain a Monday-Friday schedule (typically between 7 AM - 6 PM), supporting organizational needs through strategic initiatives, cross-functional collaboration, and efforts beyond core job duties. Regardless of role, every team member contributes to our shared mission and the success of our Geniuses.
WORK ENVIRONMENT : The Hidden Genius Project operates in a dynamic and flexible work setting to best support our mission and the needs of our youth. We are flexible but require an onsite commitment for the first year of employment. Site-Based Roles : Staff in these roles work from programming locations within local communities. These locations have traditionally included school sites, faith-based institutions, and other commercial or community spaces designated for youth development programs. Site-based roles require adaptability to varying facilities and settings, ensuring a safe and engaging environment for program delivery. Site-based roles have the flexibility to work remotely as approved by supervisors and within our workplace policy and program needs. Central Team : Primarily based between our headquarters in Oakland and our Los Angeles site in CA, both feature a modern office setting. While many responsibilities are managed from a central location, team members have the flexibility to work remotely as needed and within our workplace policy. Remote work arrangements require supervisor approval, proactive communication, self-discipline, and the ability to collaborate effectively across time zones and locations. General Work Conditions :
