Overview
The primary focus of the Network Operations Specialist is to support and maintain the organization's network infrastructure. This position is responsible for integrating new technologies, ensuring network reliability, and optimizing performance across all regions. The role involves a combination of hands-on technical support, proactive network monitoring, and collaboration with internal IT teams and external vendors. The specialist will facilitate the acquisition and deployment of emerging network technologies, ensure that service level agreements are met, maintain accurate documentation, and adhere to best practices in implementation, quality control, and change management. This position requires a solid foundation in LAN / WAN communications, network operations, and vendor management, along with experience in a 24 / 7 IT environment. Strong troubleshooting skills, familiarity with IT knowledge management, and the ability to work in a secure data center environment are essential.
Responsibilities
Customer and Systems Support :
Provide escalated technical support
- Proactively identify, research and resolve technical problems
- Responsibility for monitoring and completing tickets in assigned queues
- Deploy network configuration items into production environments, collaborating with internal departments and external vendors.
- Identify and ensure telecom and network service level requirements are met across all regions.
- Participate in after-hours maintenance and on-call support
- Ability to work in a secure datacenter environment (including lifting up to 50 lbs.)
Design Engineering and Innovation :
Facilitate the acquisition and integration of new technology into the environmentIdentify and recommend new technology value to the organizationResearch technical concepts and educate other team members as neededPresent research / proposed projects to IT managementParticipate in technology evaluationsCollaboration with other design teams within ITDocumentation and Knowledge Management :
Develop quality documentation of technical processes and proceduresDocument all ticket and project workEnsure documentation is sufficient to yield reproducible resultsIdentify, track, any resolve gaps in existing documentationMonitoring and Optimization :
Review automated infrastructure monitoring systems and escalate appropriatelyReview allocation of system resources to identify usage trendsRecommend improvements to systems and IT support processRecommend implementation standardsIT Security :
Ensure all applicable infrastructure is patched to meet defined standards and identified vulnerabilities are remediated in a timely mannerEnsure infrastructure configurations, processes, and procedures are aligned with information security standardsProject Delivery :
Track and complete assigned IT projectsComplete tasks in a timely and quality fashionAdhere to implementation, quality control, and change control standardsQualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent certification in computer science, information technology, or related technical field3 years experience in the implementation and support of large-scale network systemsSubject matter competency in managing LAN / WAN communication servicesSubject matter competency in service level agreements, building process and procedures, and knowledge managementExperience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environmentExperience working in a knowledge management platformExperience interacting with external vendors and contractors to deliver solutionsStrong verbal communication and presentation skillsResult driven, shows initiative, attention to detail, and customer service orientationFamiliarity in contract and vendor management and business / IT practicesThe ability to physically interact with and manage IT equipment in a data center, MDF, or IDFExperience working in a 24 X 7 environmentSpecial demands :
This position may require travel on an as-needed basis to domestic and international company locations and training eventsDesired Qualifications :
Subject Matter Familiarity with DevOps practices and OKR frameworkExperience working with a distributed team in a large campus environmentExperience with Network / Systems Management products such as Cisco DNA, and SolarWinds.Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to manage network infrastructure components, including power and cabling.Current Cisco CertificationGH19 #LI-Hybrid #LI-20
Salary Range : $70,500 -$95,500
Financial offer within the stated range will be based on multiple factors to include but not limited to location, relevant experience / level and skillset.
