Job Summary : The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates by evaluating the most cost-effective manufacturing methods and considering available production capacity – both labor and equipment. This role collaborates closely with customers and internal teams to ensure timely and efficient job planning and execution.

- Estimate material costs and processing costs by analyzing time requirements for each department and applying standard cost metrics.
- Consolidate costs including materials, machine time, labor, outside services, shipping, and other related expenses.
- Generate formal quotations and submit them to customers
- Collaborate with customers to provide design and layout recommendations that support efficient job planning
- Provide scheduling support and guidance to customers as needed
- Identify production centers and develop an optimized plan to execute the job in the most cost-effective manner
- Evaluate multiple production methods and select the most efficient option
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of inventory levels, usage trends, and reorder points for house supplies
- Maintain an approved list of supplies and associated pricing
- Initiate and manage purchase orders for job-specific materials, confirming availability and delivery timelines
- Occasionally attend customer press checks
- Partner with Cost Accounting to evaluate and update hourly labor rates and production standards
- Maintain accurate records of estimates, purchases, and customer communications for operational transparency and marketing insights
- Attend trade shows and marketing events as needed
- Participate in internal meetings and other company activities as required
Minimum Qualifications :
College degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experiencePrior experience in estimating, customer service, or production environments is preferredStrong understanding of cost accounting principles, printing and finishing materials, production processes, and industry trendsProficient in mathematics and computer applicationsExcellent attention to detail and organizational skillsStrong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with customers, supervisors, CSRs, and other internal stakeholdersKnowledge of print finishing equipment, operational speeds, and efficient production methodsAbility to calculate standard costs when data is incomplete or unavailableMust pass pre-employment physical and drug screenCompany Description
