Building Inspector / Senior Building Inspector Location : Altadena, CA 91001 Schedule : Monday – Friday, 8 : 00 AM – 4 : 30 PM (5 / 40) Assignment Type : Long-Term Contract About the Opportunity : Join a leading municipal program dedicated to ensuring construction quality, public safety, and code compliance across residential, commercial, and industrial projects. This long-term contract role offers the chance to contribute to a high-impact community initiative with potential for extended tenure. Key Responsibilities : Conduct detailed inspections of residential, commercial, and industrial structures for compliance with applicable building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, accessibility, and fire codes. Review and interpret construction plans, recommending revisions to ensure adherence to state and local regulations. Verify that materials and workmanship align with approved plans and specifications. Provide technical guidance to contractors, engineers, and architects regarding code compliance and inspection procedures. Prepare and maintain comprehensive inspection records and field reports. Address inquiries and resolve concerns from citizens, contractors, and project stakeholders. Assist in training and mentoring inspection staff to maintain consistent quality and standards. Stay informed on evolving construction methods, codes, and safety practices. Qualifications : Comprehensive knowledge of California Building, Electrical, Plumbing, Mechanical, and Fire Codes. Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and technical documents. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify violations and enforce compliance effectively and professionally. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Leadership or mentoring experience within a municipal inspection or construction environment preferred. Licenses and Certifications : Valid California Class C Driver’s License (required) ICC Building Inspector Certification (highly preferred)
