Web Designer & Solutions Architect
to work at the Pentagon to design, develop, secure, and maintain Drupal-based Intranet and Extranet websites. This dual-role position combines hands-on
Drupal web design
expertise with
solutions architecture
responsibilities to ensure compliance with DoD standards, best practices, and cybersecurity requirements.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in
Drupal development, STIG / ATO compliance, website administration, and federal accessibility standards , as well as the ability to deliver visually appealing, user-friendly, and secure web solutions. This is a full-time, onsite position at the Pentagon requiring an active Secret clearance.
Key Responsibilities
Drupal Website Development & Deployment
Collaborate with our client to configure contractor systems for Stratus server access. Assess and update existing Drupal Intranet and Extranet websites, providing detailed status reports. Implement Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and complete DISA requirements to obtain and maintain
Authority to Operate (ATO) . Execute final build-out of Drupal websites, coordinating activation of new sites and deactivation of legacy static sites. Perform
weekly patches, upgrades, and troubleshooting
on staging and production environments, providing detailed reporting to Government stakeholders. Website Content & Administration
Partner with staff and subject matter experts to update site content daily, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with agency initiatives. Deliver weekly reports summarizing updates, issues, and recommendations for improvements. Create and deliver
workflow diagrams, documentation, and training
to enable Government personnel to update and administer Drupal websites. Analytics & Optimization
Track website performance metrics (page views, bounce rates, conversions) and provide
monthly analytics reports
with actionable recommendations. Optimize content for
to increase visibility and drive relevant traffic. Technical Support & Compliance
Monitor and report website outages, coordinating with hosting providers for resolution. Develop and implement ongoing
website update plans
for our client's public site, Intranet, and Extranet. Ensure compliance with
Federal and DoD website standards , including mobile compatibility, accessibility, and cybersecurity requirements. Apply
industry best practices
for responsive design, UX / UI, performance optimization, and cross-browser compatibility. Requirements
Qualifications
Required : Active
DoD Secret Clearance . Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Web Design, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience. 5+ years of experience in
web design, Drupal development, or solutions architecture . Expertise with
Drupal CMS , including patching, upgrades, troubleshooting, and content management workflows. Strong knowledge of
STIGs, ATO processes, and DISA security requirements . Proficiency in
HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, XML, command line scripting, and CMS administration . Experience with
website analytics, SEO optimization, and user experience best practices . Familiarity with
Federal / DoD accessibility and web compliance standards . Preferred :
Prior experience supporting DoD or Federal Government web platforms. Familiarity with
progressive web applications, content tracking, and responsive design frameworks . Strong communication skills with the ability to train and support non-technical Government personnel. Benefits
