Director of Housekeeping Requirements & Qualifications (Must Haves)
Minimum of 2 years of management experience in full-service hotels (housekeeping experience strongly preferred)
High School Diploma or GED required; college degree preferred
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams
Highly organized and self-driven with the ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Flexible schedule with availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
Hands-on knowledge of hotel housekeeping operations, preventive maintenance coordination, and labor cost management
Director of Housekeeping Responsibilities
Ensure cleanliness and a consistent guest experience by meeting or exceeding company facility standards and guidelines
Guarantee smooth, efficient, and cost-effective operations in all Housekeeping and Laundry functions
Oversee the preventative maintenance program throughout the hotel
Build and maintain a dedicated, well-trained housekeeping team focused on excellence in service and cleanliness
Monitor and manage labor expenses to meet payroll targets
Maintain housekeeping turnover within acceptable limits
Coordinate daily with Front Office to ensure rooms are available for sale and with Engineering to ensure guest rooms and public spaces operate at peak performance
Assist in the budgeting process as requested by the Director of Rooms
Manage issuing and retrieval of associate uniforms and maintain key control standards
Track and ensure all guest requests are fulfilled within designated timeframes
Conduct daily inspections and tours of all public areas, ensuring standards are upheld
Lead monthly Operational Safety & Training (OST) meetings to maintain compliance and team readiness
Director of Housekeeping Preferred Background & Skills
Prior experience with inventory management, linen control, and master cleaning schedule administration
Familiarity with hotel performance metrics (such as Medallia, AAA, or equivalent) and quality audits
Budgeting and cost-analysis experience to optimize departmental efficiency
Ability to foster cross-department collaboration to elevate guest satisfaction
