Job Title
General knowledge of basic building trades to perform light carpentry, plumbing, electrical and mechanical repairs throughout the building.
Responsibilities include :
- Electrical systems : Maintains and troubleshoots nurse call system, CCTV system, repairs plugs and cord caps, handles bulb replacements, ensures covers are in place on all electrical boxes, puts in place lockout / tag out for unsafe conditions, assists in responding to elevator service calls.
- Plumbing : Clears stoppages in drain systems, repairs toilet fixtures, replaces valves in faucets, troubleshoots and resolves leaks in ceiling areas, secures water shut-off in the event of water leak, familiarizes self in locating and operating shut off valves for main water meters.
- Carpentry : Capable of troubleshooting and repairing hospital beds, stretchers, wheelchairs and other mobile equipment, performs minor wall repairs / patch and paint touch up, assists in requests related to locks / keys and access to doors and lockers, tightens hardware and inspects doors for code compliance, replaces stained or broken ceiling tiles, makes minor repairs / fixes to window blinds, makes adjustments / minor repairs and troubleshooting of automatic doors.
- Mechanical systems : Performs PM on HVAC systems, maintains up to date logs and record keeping, operates and monitors Building Energy Management System, completes machine room rounds and records all readings on equipment, responds to requests regarding the Translogic Pneumatic Tube System, achieves and broadens basic familiarity with hospital plumbing, electrical and oxygen major shut off valves, operates the main Chilled Water SubCenter, monitors and records levels of medical gas supplies, confirms that emergency generators are functioning properly in the event of a power loss.
- Code Compliance and ILSM's - JCAHO : Conducts and records routine Interim Life Safety Measures, ensures all NFPA regulations are adhered to, responds to and assists to all codes, reports to location of overhead announcement and / or page in the event of a Code Mr. Firestone, works overtime, night and shift work as directed, completes all mandatory safety training, keeps all required certificates and / or licenses current, communicates in a timely manner to contact department staff as necessary in the event of an emergency.
Education : HS GRAD / EQUIVALENT
Required : High school or trade school graduate. Three years experience preferred in one of the construction or maintenance trades. Thorough knowledge of plant systems and sub-systems if applicable.
Desired : Working knowledge of HVAC systems, pumps, steam heating systems. HVAC and / or plumbing license is preferred. Boiler plant and machinery operating experience if applicable.
