Environment America is seeking an experienced campaign director to lead our Global Warming Solutions Team. The Climate Campaign Director will work with our national program team, local organizers and other key allies across the country to build momentum, expand support and win policies that move the country toward fossil‑fuel freedom, promote building electrification and clean transportation, reduce power plant pollution, and more. The Climate Campaign Director will be the public face of Environment America’s climate campaigns and interact directly with decision‑makers, the media, coalition partners and funders.

Base pay range

$42,000.00 / yr - $60,000.00 / yr

Key responsibilities

• Coalition building : Serve as the voice of Environment America in key climate coalitions, drive efforts to build and expand partners to include non‑traditional supporters from across the political spectrum, and collaborate with state organizations on state‑specific coalition strategy and development.
• Media and communications : Write reports, fact sheets, news releases, blogs, op‑eds and other forms of communication to get our message in the media and heard by decision‑makers and the public. Represent Environment America with reporters and serve as our national spokesperson on climate.
• Campaign coordination and development : Develop and drive implementation of campaign strategy and tactics, and coordinate with senior leadership on strategies and opportunities.
• Research : Take complex data and distill it into clear, powerful conclusions that are easy to communicate to decision‑makers and the public.
• Fundraising : Build our program through fundraising from foundations and individual donors, cultivating current donors and expanding the donor base to include new national, state and local funders.
• Recruitment and management : Participate in the recruitment and management of interns and staff, and lead training programs for staff at all levels.

Qualifications

Compensation and Benefits

The starting compensation range for someone with 5‑12 years of relevant experience is $42,000‑60,000. Candidates on the lower end of directly relevant experience should expect to be on the lower end of this range; candidates on the higher end of relevant experience are likely to be on the higher end of this range. Location

Washington, D.C., preferred. This position could also be based in Chicago, IL, Boston, MA, or Denver, CO.
