Construction Site Manager
The Construction Site Manager is responsible for the entire scope of site activities at a specific project site under the direction and on behalf of the project management. Within a certain project, they define the site strategy, manage the site teams, and manage the execution of the project scope. They ensure that safety, quality, cost, and schedule meet contractual obligations, company policies, and local regulations. They report to the GSI Construction Manager and participate in the definition of the function's objectives and their follow-up.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage site and location teams to meet performance standards, project goals, and all GE-Grid policies and procedures.
- Participate in the estimation, planning, and tendering of construction and installation activities, and in the definition and implementation of contract strategies in coordination with EHS, quality, planning, and procurement.
- Responsible for the organization and supervision of all construction and installation activities from project preparation (FEED) to completion.
- Main point of contact for subcontractors, partners, and consortia on all construction-related and operational issues on site.
- Ensure the integration and compliance with customer EHS and quality requirements in all phases of the project, and actively promote a strong safety culture ("Stop Work Policy", hazard identification, continuous improvement).
- Implement and monitor the construction management system (LPS) and be responsible for scheduling, staffing, cost, and risk management in the Construction & Commissioning area.
- Regular communication with all employees on site (GE and external partners) to ensure collaboration, transparency, and process reliability.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as safety, project progress, subcontractor performance, and budget adherence.
- Actively participate in improvement initiatives for construction processes, tools, and documentation, and share learnings with future projects.
Requirements
Appropriate qualification in construction / electrical engineering, degree level with several years of professional experience.Appropriate experience, training, and qualifications in health and safety, corresponding to international standards for roles of this type. The GWO certification will be an additional advantage.Basic knowledge in high voltage electrical work and commissioning.Good interpersonal skills and ability to lead work teams in challenging situations.Previous experience in the role of Construction Site Manager on a large high voltage substation project.Experience with the installation and commissioning of key elements of the project, including construction, building services, and ancillary systems, high and medium voltage equipment, control and protection systems, commissioning.Knowledge of international standards and "best practices" in the construction industry; knowledge of environmental laws and good industry practices related to construction work.Knowledge of the main applicable standards and specifications for high and electrical construction, applicable to countries in the region.Others
