Position Summary
The Manufacturing Engineer I supports design transfer out of R&D as well as develop, implement, and improve Manufacturing capabilities. Contributes to product design improvements intended to achieve higher reliability, serviceability, operability, and manufacturability. Train technicians, operational and manufacturing personnel on manufacturing equipment operation, procedures, and inspections.
Responsibilities
- Using lean and six sigma concepts to implement process efficiencies.
- Troubleshoots manufacturing design and process issues to ensure the highest level of quality.
- Writes ECOs to improve the design / process for ease of manufacturing.
- Train direct labor staff.
- Reviews proposals and out of scope requests.
- Occasionally works with suppliers on technical equipment specifications.
- Demonstrates skill in the use and care of all tools and equipment.
- Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices and all other applicable standards (J-STD and IPC-620).
- Stays informed about applicable new rules, regulations, and standards.
- Read and operate test meters such as multi-meters, oscilloscope, power meters, and analyzers.
- Provides written reports and engineering documentation as necessary.
- Familiar with RF testing and troubleshooting is a plus.
- Follows all safety procedures.
- Support test system integration, including software installation / configuration, troubleshooting, and documentation.
- Works with internal staff, suppliers, and customers on technical projects and issue resolution
- Performs other duties and responsibilities, as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Ability
Knowledge of engineering change orders.Skills in Microsoft Office products and engineering tools.Ability to carry out engineering calculations and analysis.Ability to write engineering documents, test protocols, laboratory notebook entries, and reports.Ability to perform component engineering design and changes.Ability to present verbal reports.Ability to review and analyze engineering reports and wire schematics.Ability to provide departmental leadership.Knowledge and understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices and other applicable standards.Requirements :
Desired Minimum Qualification
Education : Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related.Skills : Technical measurement using standard laboratory tools, such as, micrometer, oscilloscope, multi-meters, etc.Certifications : Solder certification IPC-A-610, J-STD-001 and / or IPC-7711 is a strong plus.Experience : 2+ years manufacturing experience in a high volume, or labor-intensive manufacturing work environment. Prior line lead experience desirable. Computer skills with the ability to clearly communicate and to multi-task in fast paced environment.Working Conditions
Occasionally lift 35lbs.Visual capacity including depth perception, color vision, and peripheral vision.Ability to effectively interact with staff from various departments.Production environment involves frequent sitting, walking, and standing, and occasionally climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and balancing.Some overnight travel may be required; typically, less than 5% annually.
