Sr. Systems Administrator

Location : Norfolk, VA on-site

Type : 3 month contract to hire

Pay Range : $50-65 / hr (experience dependent)

Schedule : M-F day shift-40 hour weeks

Requirements :

  • Clearance Requirement : Candidates must be US citizens able to obtain and / or maintain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance as a condition and continuation of employment
  • Current Security+ certification is required
  • At least 12 years of experience in system administration or related field within DoD / Navy programs
  • Extensive knowledge of system administration principles and practices, particularly in managing complex, global IT systems
  • Knowledgeable on the core AWS services related to permissions and networking and how they interact
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior team members
  • Proven experience leading technical teams and managing full system lifecycle processes
  • SAFe Agilist (SA) certification or higher (can obtain within 6 months of start)

Responsibilities :

  • Organize and direct the configuration and operation of information management systems within the NMMES environment
  • Lead and mentor a team of system administrators to provide day-to-day system administration, including system and resource optimization, and user assistance
  • Conduct capacity and performance analysis, and provide system configuration change and upgrade recommendations
  • Increase system administrator efficiency and accuracy via the use of automated tools and scripts
  • Develop system administration procedures and conduct system administrator training and skills assessment
  • Ensure the seamless integration and operation of legacy software applications with current web application technologies running on multiple operating systems
  • Implement and maintain robust security measures across all NMMES systems
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to support the full NMMES lifecycle, from sustainment of existing systems to implementation of new solutions
  • Implement and champion SAFe Agile practices within the NMMES system administration process
