Custom Truck Equipment of Bloomington is looking to hire for the Welder / Fabricator position.

• Blueprint Reading and Design Interpretation : Welder fabricators often start by reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, or design specifications. They need to understand the dimensions, tolerances, and welding symbols to create the intended metal structures.
• Material Selection : Based on the project requirements, welder fabricators choose the appropriate type and grade of metal for the job. Different metals have varying properties and strengths, so selecting the right material is crucial for the structural integrity of the finished product.
• Cutting and Shaping : Welder fabricators use various tools and equipment to cut and shape metal components according to the design specifications. Tools like saws, shears, plasma cutters, and lasers are used to precisely shape the metal pieces.
• Welding Techniques : Welder fabricators are proficient in various welding techniques, including MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), and stick welding. They join metal pieces together by melting the edges and fusing them using the appropriate welding method.
• Welding Equipment Operation : Welder fabricators operate welding equipment such as welding machines, torches, and electrodes. They need to set the right parameters for welding, including voltage, current, and wire feed speed, to ensure strong and clean welds.
• Assembly and Fitting : Fabricators assemble and fit the cut and shaped metal pieces together. This process involves aligning and positioning the components accurately before welding them in place.
• Weld Quality and Inspection : Ensuring the quality of welds is crucial for the structural integrity of the finished product. Welder fabricators inspect their work visually and may also use non-destructive testing methods like ultrasonic testing or X-rays to identify potential defects.
• Grinding and Finishing : After welding, welder fabricators grind and smooth the welded joints to achieve a seamless and aesthetically pleasing appearance. They might also perform additional finishing tasks such as polishing or painting.
