Street Maintenance Worker
Semi-skilled work in the use of light to medium equipment in maintenance and construction work. Involves responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of a variety of equipment used in the construction and maintenance of streets and other municipal facilities; also includes physical labor. Hiring wage range for the position is $28.05 to $29.66 per hour.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED Various types of motorized vehicles and equipment including but not limited to : dump trucks, snow plows, pickups, utility trucks, jetter / vacuum combinations, loaders, backhoes, boom truck, asphalt rollers, crack filling machine, portable air compressor, patch truck, skid-steers, tampers, compactors, cutoff saws, distributor, water pumps, air compressors, generators, common hand and power tools, gas detectors, computers, mobile radios and telephones. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Writing / computer skills are necessary to document tasks completed and to prepare and complete time cards. Reading skills are necessary to read work orders, personnel correspondence and equipment operation manuals and maintenance records. REASONING SKILLS The ability to apply principals of logic or practical thinking are needed to prioritize tasks, solve problems and perform tasks in an efficient and safe manner. WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environments described are representative of those that an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of the job, the employee occasionally works in all types of outside weather conditions. Temperatures will range from the bitterly cold to hot and humid conditions. The employee routinely works in the public right-of-way where there is vehicular traffic and equipment that is mechanically and / or hydraulically powered.
