ABOUT THE JOB

The Field Service Engineer provides site services to clients such as supervision of equipment / system installation, start-ups, commissioning, troubleshooting, media & membrane loading, equipment inspections, general maintenance, and repairs for water treatment equipment / systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform equipment installation, startup, commissioning, service, testing, and operator training for various types of water treatment systems, both onsite and offsite.
  • Ensure timely project completion by effectively managing field service goals, schedules, and on-site costs related to time, materials, and labor.
  • Provide technical support to the Production Manager at the Loves Park, IL facility, assisting with equipment refurbishments, assembly, and final testing.
  • Support production and equipment rebuilds at the home office, as needed.
  • Travel to customer sites for service calls, troubleshooting, water audits, system repairs, sales support, and equipment evaluations.
  • Participate in training initiatives for service technicians to ensure consistent and effective equipment startup procedures.
  • Provide work direction to Field Service Technicians and Equipment Technicians, as well as guidance to production staff and contractors during onsite service.
  • Operate and maintain company vehicles, tools, and service equipment according to company policy and safety protocols.
  • Promote and maintain a safe work environment by adhering to company safety policies and applicable OSHA and State of Illinois regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

ABOUT YOU

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical, mechanical, or electrical engineering, or equivalent hands-on industry experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in equipment service, repair, plumbing, or control systems within the water treatment industry.
  • At least 2 years in a supervisory or team leadership role.
  • Strong troubleshooting experience with water treatment systems such as filters, reverse osmosis, ion exchange, chemical feed, and pH adjustment systems.
  • Proficiency with mechanical and electrical components of water treatment equipment, including pumps, media filters, membrane systems (RO, UF, NF), chemical injection systems, and valves.
  • Ability to read and interpret equipment drawings, PFDs, P&IDs, electrical schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Experience reading and modifying PLC ladder logic is required; PLC programming experience is preferred.
  • Solid understanding of water chemistry and testing tools used in process design and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read and interpret water analysis reports.
  • Valid Class D driver's license for operation of company vehicles.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and capable of learning new software systems.
  • Hands-on experience with a variety of tools, testing instruments, analyzers, and meters.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively across departments and organizational levels.
  • Physical Requirements :

  • Must be able to operate office equipment, fax and or printer, and personal computer.
  • May stand, walk, bend, stoop, climb stairs and lift frequently on average of 8 hours each day.
  • May be required to carry or move equipment or parts more than 50 lbs.
  • May require confined space entry.
  • Work requires close vision.
  • Required to use power hoist, pallet transport trucks, powered forklifts, similar equipment and or company vehicles.
  • Production environment or client off site location where you may climb and balance materials while moving or repairing equipment.
  • Hand and eye coordination required to ensure job performance is carried out in the most efficient and safe manner.
  • Travel :

    Occasional travel required, including local site visits and domestic air travel.

    Expected Compensation : $88,-$, + 5% bonus eligibility
