Subject Matter Experts and teaching faculty needed in the following areas :
Anatomy
Neuroscience
Orthopedic upper extremity occupational therapy assessment and intervention
Modalities
Assistive technology including 3-D printing
Mental health conditions, assessment, and interventions
Pediatric health conditions, assessment, and interventions
Adolescent and young adults’ conditions, assessment, and interventions
Level I fieldwork educators at community sites
Supervision of students during didactic class experience at community clinics
Mentoring and supervision of students in small group, learning communities
Assisting full-time faculty in lab courses in multiple courses
Responsibilities for curriculum development begin immediately, and responsibilities for teaching begin August 2025.
Qualified applicants should have a master’s of science degree in occupational therapy, or an entry-level, post-professional occupational therapy doctorate degree, or another equivalent doctorate degree. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate effective teaching in either the classroom, clinical, or academic setting. The candidate must embrace the mission of Point Loma Nazarene University.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Adjunct faculty members must have knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques appropriate to effective undergraduate or graduate teaching. Adjuncts are also expected to have knowledge of ways to instruct, manage, motivate and evaluate students and do the following :
Teach graduate courses
Invest in students’ professional development
Participate in Point Loma Nazarene University activities as appropriate
Mentor students in research or professional experiences as appropriate
QUALIFICATIONS
Master's preferred, Bachelor’s accepted
Potential for outstanding teaching as demonstrated by prior classroom or clinical teaching
Five or more years of clinical experience as an occupational therapist with a demonstrated area of clinical expertise
Past experience supervising Level I and / or Level II fieldwork students
Past experience creating new curriculum at the graduate level in occupational therapy (for persons developing curriculum only)
Philosophical : Thorough commitment to the concept of Christian liberal arts education and a desire to work in a Christian university. Supportive of the religious and educational goals of the university and its sponsoring denomination.
Personal : Evidence of Christian commitment and active church involvement. In addition, faculty agree to live in agreement with PLNU’s Community Life Covenant.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
The number of adjunct instructors hired varies from semester to semester, depending upon the needs of the department. Please realize that there may not presently be an adjunct position available.
When an opening becomes available for which a candidate would be a good match, the department chair will be in contact with that candidate for further dialogue, interviews, etc.
Approved applicants will remain in the adjunct pool for the upcoming school year only. To be reconsidered for the following school year, applicant will need to reapply. If hired, official transcripts will be required from all undergraduate and graduate universities attended before a contract is issued.
