GIS Operations Manager
The GIS Operations Manager is responsible for leading the GIS team and ensuring outstanding mapping and records practices throughout the Chesapeake Utilities Corporation. This role focuses on implementing standardized mapping and record-keeping procedures that meet the needs of our various operating companies. Collaborating closely with departments such as Operations, Integrity, Compliance, Construction, and Design, this position aims to leverage GIS data effectively for the benefit of the corporation and its customers. Additionally, the GIS Operations Manager will work alongside the IT department to enhance and upgrade GIS systems, maintaining business productivity.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead and manage the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Team to meet the professional needs of Chesapeake Utilities Corporation efficiently.
- Ensure that GIS Mapping and Records data support the safe delivery of energy services, comply with regulatory requirements, and serve Gas Operations' needs effectively.
- Oversee the accuracy of GIS models and mapping data, ensuring timely updates as required by internal stakeholders and regulatory agencies.
- Set priorities and goals for the team while fostering accountability in project execution.
- Cultivate a positive work environment that enhances team engagement and retention.
- Develop team members through training, coaching, and conducting performance evaluations.
- Provide technical guidance to support project design, permitting, engineering standards development, and process improvement.
- Identify and act on data-driven opportunities for process enhancement in coordination with key stakeholders.
- Manage GIS projects from initiation to completion while adhering to established timelines and budgets.
- Participate in essential training sessions as required.
- Contribute to the preparation and submission of annual reports (e.g., US DOT, EPA).
- Represent the company at regulatory and industry meetings.
- Engage in updating Operations and Maintenance (O&M Manuals), GIS systems, Construction Standards, and Service Manuals.
Qualifications :
Bachelor's Degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, Environmental Science, or Engineering.Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in GIS, including three (3) years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.Valid Driver's License.Proficient in Environmental Systems Research Institute, Inc. software.Strong organizational and prioritization skills.Demonstrated leadership capabilities in both remote and in-office settings.Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and general business principles.Able to work independently and collaboratively in a diverse work environment.Exceptional multitasking abilities.Benefits :
